Why did you choose Frida Larios's (New Maya Language) work
to represent Latin America in the book?
Innovation in graphic design is not easy these days, and bringing heritage
to innovation is even more difficult. That is why Fridas project is so important
from both a cultural and design perspective.
What has been the reception of that case study in particular?
First of all the surprise comes from the country it came from,
and we love surprises. But more important than that is the quality
that people see in the work. Moreover, it has been one of the
most commented projects in the book.

NEW PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION
Collocation (NATURE), 2009
University of Florida Biomedical Sciences Building
Mickey's first major public art commission has been installed at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Working with glass fabricators Franz Mayer of Munich, fourteen 40x60 art glass panels were were installed at the Biomedical Sciences building. Each image was printed and fired on art glass, finished with engraved, lacquer filled text. The project was supported by Florida's Art in State Buildings program.
